Cultural politics in Canada and Quebec: Realizing the potential of emergent practices
In terms of their support for emerging artists, Canadian and Quebec cultural policies are perceived by the cultural sector as vague and out-dated, if not increasingly non-existent. Concepts such as emergent practices, auto-production, or technological developments affect the way production, distribution, and dissemination is approached. These channels should be built into the agenda of culturally political reforms already in progress and those still to come. Initiated by SOPREF, this examination will be held with the assistance of researchers, representatives of cultural organizations, relevant ministries, and managers of funding programs.
