Cultural diversity: Knowing how to maximize the utility of our resources.
If maintaining national cultural identity is essential to all nations, the same kind of necessity and pressure applies when making sure that the national production is unique, avant-garde, attractive, and competitive for export. Do Canada and Quebec have a conceptual projection of their place in the cultural milieus of other countries? And how does this affect the export strategies and programs dedicated to emergent, current, and electronic music? Are these strategies and programs sufficiently focused and adequately financed so that Canada and Quebec can develop a position of choice in international hands, much in line with the spaces already occupied by homegrown cinema, fine art, and literature?
