MUTEK is looking for a passionate individual to assist the programming and communications departments in the bringing the 21st edition of the festival to reality. Candidates should be organized, versatile, autonomous and curious. They will actively take part in the organization of the festival in an open-office, flexible and stimulating work environment.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
MUTEK will be applying to fund this position through the Montreal Art Council’s DémART program. The program funds the first 30 weeks of the contract which will be extended for a minimum of 6 weeks to cover the festival period. As per the program guidelines, we are looking for candidates “with culturally diverse backgrounds or who are either new arrivals or first-generation immigrants”. (cf. Glossary on page 2).

Tasks and responsibilities :
Under the supervision of the Operations team, the incumbent works closely with the programming and communications committees to ensure the management of elements related to the booking and administration of artists for the festival, including but not limited to:
- Involvement with all stages of booking logistics for artists: memo deals, offer sheets, contracts, database management, and other artist assets including press kits, riders etc.
Administration: follow-ups with artist agents and artists, contract management and related documents;
Compile information (images, audio, video, links, press kits…) required for the promotion of content on our platforms (website, database, app, print, etc.) for every artist of the 2020 edition;
Handle the day-to-day updates and confirm artist and partner data (photos, logo, links) in in-house shared documents;
Update artist pages of previous festival editions for the upcoming new website.
Familiarity with the context of festivals and large-scale events.
Ability to work with databases (we use Zone Festival), and capacity to work with several types of files (Google Doc, Google Sheet, Slack, Trello, etc.)
Knowledge of the Office suite.
Bilingualism is essential to this position: The person must have a working knowledge of French and English both orally and in writing. Language skills will be tested during the interview.
Autonomous and organized.
Ability to work under pressure.
Knowledge of the music industry (electronic music specifically) or digital arts and A/V performances will be considered an asset.
Candidates must own a laptop.

Start date: January 6, 2020
End date: Mid-September 2020
Schedule: Average of 22 hour weeks, flexible schedule with full-time availability during the festival period, in July and August 2020.
Hourly rate: $18

GLOSSARY (From the Montreal Arts Council website)
Cultural communities or ethnic minorities: Groups of people whose origins are not Canadian, Québécois, French, British or Aboriginal.
New arrivals: Immigrants who have resided in Canada for less than 5 years.
1st generation immigrant : Persons born outside of Canada who are or were landed immigrants of Canada. This generation also includes a small number of persons born outside of Canada whose parents are Canadian citizens by birth, as well as non-permanent residents (persons from other countries who have work permits or student visas or are refugee claimants) and their family members residing with them in Canada).
