MUTEK Mexico unleashes a second wave of artists for its 13th edition, taking place October 19 to 23 at unique locations around Mexico City. These latest names from both the international circuit and the rich and ascendant local and Latin American scene, reflect the festival’s dedication to showcasing a wide and eclectic range of contemporary electronic music and digital arts practices. Mixing unique live performances across genres of music, sound and visual arts with technology — including new forms of research and re-imaginings of interactive and interface-based works, along with architectural interventions and the emerging perspectives offered by virtual reality — the festival continues its curatorial mission to both cultivate and inspire its savvy and rapidly expanding audience.

The program continues to deepen its global offerings with the inclusion of exclusive performances from:

RICHIE HAWTIN (CA) / µ-ZIQ (UK) / RROSE (US) / JOHN TEJADA (US) / SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER (IR) / ACRONYM (SE) / MYRIAM BLEAU (CA/QC) / MICHELA PELUSIO & GLENN VERVLIET (IT/BE) / MICROFEEL (ES) /

Drawing on the significant talents in its own backyard and underlining its commitment to homegrown artistry, the festival is excited to welcome a slew of Mexican and Latin American artists to the fray:

AAAA (MX) / IMAABS (CL) / CYANÉ (MX) / SANFUENTES + MIJO (CL/MX) / GASPAR PERALTA (MX) / ALIAS 616 (MX) / 失夢 (SHITSUYUME) (MX) / ME & MYSELF (MX) / DAMAJA RAINBOW (MX)

This edition’s campaign also taps into themes concerned with October’s lunar activity in Mexico — namely the peculiarities of the moon’s position in the sky in this part of the world, as it appears eerily larger and more prominent. Additionally, the festival also coincides with the annual dressing up of the city in anticipation of Day of the Dead, while the significance and superstitions around the number 13 are not lost on the organizers either.

With more names still to be added, here is the current lineup:

AAAA (MX) / ACRONYM (SE) / AÏSHA DEVI (CH) / ALIAS 616 (MX) / BEGUN (ES) / CYANÉ (MX) / DAMAJA RAINBOW (MX) / DRIFTMACHINE (DE) / GASPAR PERALTA (MX) / HIROAKI UMEDA (JP) / HOLLY HERNDON (US) / IMAABS (CL) / JAN JELINEK & MASAYOSHI FUJITA (DE/JP) / JLIN (US) / JOHN TEJADA (US) / KLARA LEWIS (SE) / ME & MYSELF (MX) / MICHELA PELUSIO & GLENN VERVLIET (IT/BE) / MICROFEEL (ES) / MURCOF (MX) / MYRIAM BLEAU (QC) / NICOLA CRUZ + FIDEL ELJURI (EC) / PEDER MANNERFELT (SE) / POWELL (UK) / RABIT (US) / RICHIE HAWTIN (CA) / RROSE (US) / SANFUENTES + MIJO (CL/MX) / 失夢 (SHITSUYUME) (MX) /SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER (IR) / THE FIELD (SE) / µ-ZIQ (UK)
