MUTEK Teams Up with Red Bull Music Academy Montréal for a Series of Exceptional Events!

The Red Bull Music Academy lands in Montréal this fall from September 24 to October 28 with a full slate of workshops, lectures, exhibitions and world-class performances highlighting international luminaries—while also celebrating Montréal’s unique musical scenes and artists. MUTEK is thrilled to be co-presenting the following special events:

NEVER APART: EQUINOX

Red Bull Music Academy Montréal kicks off on Saturday September 24th with Equinox, co-presented by Never Apart, a marathon of music running from 6PM to 6AM featuring this fine selection of techno and experimental artists:

SUPER SATURDAY NIGHT 

Music and roller skating rinks have long been a fertile combination. Here though, the proceedings take to a different type of surface. The indoor ice rink at Atrium Le 1000, hosts a chilled party laced with hot grooves on October 1.

HAUTE RÉSOLUTION: UNE SOIRÉE 1080p 

The curtain is closed on its first term of Red Bull Music Academy Montréal with a celebration of one of Canada’s most exciting record labels. 1080p is based in Vancouver, but many of its artists are making skewed house, techno and god-knows-what in Montréal.

TURBO CRUNK

Between 2006 and 2009, the monthly Turbo Crunk party had Montréal’s bass music scene firmly on lock. For one night only, Red Bull Music Academy will bring the Turbo Crunk crew back together for the 2016 Academy edition in Montréal. They will be joined by shape-shifting American producer Machinedrum, hip-hop innovator Clams Casino, LuckyMe stalwart Eclair Fifi, Academy participant Suicideyear and yet-to-be-disclosed special guests.

TIGA: NO FANTASY REQUIRED

Iconic Canadian electronic music producer Tiga is set to play his debut headline live show for the first time in its entirety in Montréal. One of the boldest voices internationally in electronic music, Tiga helped to kickstart Montréal’s techno scene in the ’90s, importing influential music via DNA Records, co-founding party promoter Neon and launching the renowned SONA club. His label Turbo Recordings enjoys global respect while his own recording career has been as extensive as his globetrotting. On this night, Tiga will be joined by very special guests The Martinez Brothers, Matias Aguayo and more to be announced.
